Betania Canas
Multi Awarded Flutist - Recording Artist - Music Educator
Ms Canas grew up in the celebrated music non-profit institution “El Sistema” Venezuela, where she served as principal flutist in different symphony orchestras for over a decade. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance in Michigan, her Master of Music in Flute Performance at the University of Cincinnati, her Artist Diploma in Flute Orchestral Studies at the Orchestra of Americas Academy, and is currently pursuing a Professional Performance Certificate at Lynn University.
During the course of her career, she has won several competitions, premiered compositions, performed as soloist in multiple concerts, and collaborated in recording projects of different styles.
Betania has been a Teaching Artist at MYCincinnati, Ohio and Kids Orchestra, Louisiana. Both of these institutions are El Sistema inspired music programs that provide free music education to underserved youth.
She studied conducting with Teresa Hernandez and Claudio Gonzales and composition with Luis Fernando Laya and Blas Emilio Atehortua. She has been a prep conductor in Michigan and Cincinnati and writes minimalistic music available on streaming platforms.
She performs regularly with different orchestras across the United States, and appears frequently on social platforms where she has developed a fine community of more than forty thousand followers.
She studied with Alexandra Kemble, Demarre McGill, Gareth Davies, and Jeffrey Khaner.
